I think he has mastered it, I mean he can make Star Wars type things with Paint Shop Pro, and these are advanced things as well.

On my old Windows XP desktop, I had a program called Serif Photoplus 6 (you can find a free download on download.com), and I had it mastered. Sure, it was nothing premium or innovative, but it did a lot of stuff. | | Back to Top - Link to Post |

psp is alot higher powered now that its owned by coral, the newer versions are awesome.

| | Re: Smaller programs can do wonders (30th Jul 08 at 3:50am) | | I don't view Corel's Paint Shop Pro as a small program. It is a rival of photoshop in my opinion and a very successful one at that. It's price is several times cheaper and yet, just as powerful. I feel that Corel's software is easier to learn to use then Adobe's, to be honest, Adobe's software confuses the hell out of me.
I played with the trial a bit, and I actually liked the results I got, I tried a few different things, if I had a free hundred dollars to throw away I'd probably get Corel's Paint Shop Pro. I won't save up eight hundred USD to buy Photoshop. The price is a major difference in my opinion as well. The results are the same to an extent.
As Patrick mentioned above PhotoPlus Serif 6.0 is pretty awesome. I use it a lot for text, screenshots, finding out colors (and bugged Patrick to death about over half of the things >_>) and I'm impressed with it for free software, it's better then the expensive Macromedia's Fireworks.
A while ago I seen a designer who did pixel art in paint, I was very amazed how some of his icons came out. UBBC icons, smilies, on / off icons, menu buttons, all kinds of icons came out as grade pieces of art. There are some people who can amaze us with barely anything, it takes a great amount of patience and practice in my opinion.
Even people who use GIMP manage to do a fine job if they can keep Gimp from crashing. I for one am excited to see what the future is going to bring in photographic manipulation. In the past few years design has changed a lot, much more complex, and it continues to evolve. This is an exciting adventure to watch unfold. | | Back to Top - Link to Post |
